Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my interest in the Trader position involving option trading. I am currently
completing my last semester at the University of Virginia, and I will be graduating in two weeks
with a major in Economics. I have always found the complexity and possibilities of options
fascinating, and I have taken several economics classes that involve underlying factors.
During my education at the University of Virginia, I have developed a solid background in all
areas of finance, including a thorough focus on the securities and currency markets. I have learned
key analytical, valuation, and communication skills, and often working in teams has developed my
decision-making and cooperation capabilities. My internship at SNL Financial has really allowed
me to learn and grow, giving me the opportunity to analyze and comprehend complex situations
quickly. I thus see myself fit to undertake vital individual team-oriented tasks in a competitive
trading environment, as well as performing optimally during long hours of continued stress.
My other internships have also provided me with valuable hands-on experience in banking and a
more detailed comprehension of the financial world, as well as different aspects of insurance. By
working on a number of different projects, I put into use the knowledge I learned in school while
also acquiring new skills in financial analysis and trading. I am especially interested in a trading
position since it is a fast-paced job with direct results, as well as being an area where I believe I
can fully utilize my interests and education.
I believe the combination of a top education and relevant work experience will make me qualified
for the position. I look forward to hearing back from you, and thank you for you time in looking
over the enclosed materials.
