Dear Mr. Howard,
I am responding to your advertisement for the Marketing Coordinator position at New York
Central Pet Hospital listed in yesterday’s edition of the New York Times. Please accept my
resume and cover letter as my formal application for this position.
While completing my undergraduate Business Degree at Heidelberg College, I have enjoyed my
classes, especially those involving publicity, advertising and marketing strategies. I have worked
hard in school and currently have a 4.0 GPA in my major, and am eager to increase my
knowledge and continue learning in a professional setting. I want to use my academic
background, and strong work ethic, to positively contribute to New York Central Pet Hospital.
As a summer Publicity Intern with the American Red Cross, I developed several effective
publicity campaigns. One in particular, called Blood Buddies, increased community participation
by 50% due in part to an innovative “buddy system” strategy. Each potential attendee who pre-
registered and showed up with a buddy was entered for a special door prize drawing. I am also
proud of the “Mardi Gras Gala” I planned and implemented, which involved 300+ people in
raising over $2500.00 for emergency preparedness education.
Additionally, I have spent two years as part of the Heidelberg Campus Programming Board
(BEC). My responsibilities included planning logistics for concerts and entertainers, designing
flyers, and recruiting volunteers for event set-up and tear-down.
I have proven myself in my previous roles and would like the opportunity to become a valued
member of the Central Pet Hospital marketing team. Please contact me at the above number if
you require any further information. Thank you for reviewing my enclosed credentials, and I look
forward to interviewing with you soon.
